We have created our wines inspired by the concept of family, with diverse identities such as members of a family that although with a common origin has their own stories. Francisco Díaz Blanco who shaped a dream and embarked on this family adventure. His son and grandson, both named Andrés Díaz, working in unison, built in 1964 the winery that bears his name and which we continue to use in the production of our wines.
Our story not only speaks of men, and today Felisa Díaz Colomo, great-grand-granddaughter of the founder, is the first woman at the head of our winery. She has keeping the line of work up, being faithful to principles, and inherited illusions.
We are a small family winery focused on the production of red wines. Our principle is the idea that wine is a passionate and emotional product which born to be enjoyed and so we want it to be understood. We aim to reach out to all consumers who make wine a unique experience. Our particularity and difference lies in our varietals with our own character.
Our winery is located in the southwest of the Community of Madrid. In this territory, optimal for vine growing, our vineyards are bounded from north to south by the river Guadarrama, and at its western end by the Perales River, a tributary of the river Alberche. These are undulating lands, broken by valleys and hills, where the vineyards follow one after the other, accompanied by cereal lands and holm oak and pine forests.
According to our traditional method of cultivation wine stocks are planted in "goblet", kept very close to the ground. It protects the fruit from the strong sunshine and high temperatures of the summer months, helping them also to have a better hydration thanks to its proximity to the ground.
The main grape varieties are Red Grenache and Tempranillo. Other red varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouchet also grow as a minority crop. Our main white grape variety is Malvar, an autochthonous grape from the Region of Madrid.
The elaboration of our wines is still full handmade, as we learnt from our elders, but without neglecting the new advances of modern oenology, always adapting ourselves with the aim of achieving a product of increasingly higher quality, for a demanding clientele and in a very competitive market such as the wine one.
We continue fermenting our wines in big old concrete vats. We can consider that as our core value and hallmark, due to the uniqueness this method brings to our wines. To use concrete vats provides to our wines with excellent thermal stability, avoiding sudden changes in temperature. Its porosity contributes yeast activity during fermentation which enhances the mouth feel and helps to achieve unctuous and complex wines.
