Ausonia is the name of a butterfly species that uniquely lives in the plot of land where the winery lies. It is quite rare to see this type of lepidoptera in other areas of Italy, that is why it became the icon of the winemaking philosophy of Simone and Francesca.
The vineyards of Ausonia take root on clay, limestone soil; they benefit from the protection of Gran Sasso massif and they are deeply influenced by the Adriatic sea and the biodiversity of the natural reserve Calanchi di Atri. The agriculture practice follows the principles of biodynamic and the native grapes evolve in sincere wines that are a strong representation of the territory and its people.
The wine denominations are inspired by the local butterflies species, they are all unfined, unfiltered and terribly true.
