My name is Dario, I’m 30 years old, Oenology graduate, passionate Vigneron.

Oasi le fratte is a project that I started in 2020 with the purchase of a semy-abandoned vineyard of about one hectare and 2 hectares of mediterranean bush. It is located in Contrada Fratte, Castignano, province of Ascoli Piceno in Marche Region.

The vineyard is about 20 years old, 450 meter up the level sea, in the heart of “Parco dei Calanchi e del Monte Ascensione”. The cultivated varieties are mainly Sangiovese and a small part of the vineyard is Montepulciano. The plants have deep roots in soil rich in limestone. Over 50 hectares of mediterranean bush surround the vineyard for an incredible wealth of biodiversity.

The idea is to start a small production of bottles from my old vines, the method is minimalist, low intervention both in the vineyard and in the cellar, to express the terroir with as much purity as possible. In the vineyard all the work is carried out manually with the help of my mother Angela  and with great attention to biodiversity. We don’t use plastic to tie the vines but plant materials, mainly broom branches collected from the woods near our vineyard. In the cellar, we prefer  wild fermentation and no chemical addiction or correction to the wine, we only use  healty grapes. In fact, we believe that the wine is a mirror of the vintage in which it has been produced, and expresses all the uniqueness and complexity of Contrada Fratte’s  terroir.

In the first two vintages (2020 and 2021) only experimental vinifications were made to understand the potential of our raw material, while for the 2022 vintage some bottles, even if a few, will be in production.
